Qld nurses agree to 12.5pc pay rise

NursesQueensland’s public sector nurses will get a 12.5 per cent pay rise over the next three years as part of a new enterprise bargaining agreement (EBA).

The Queensland Nurses Union (QNU) says more than 90 per cent of nurses voted to accept the agreement this week.

The QNU says it will mean a pay increase of $55 per week or nearly $3,000 per year for an experienced full-time registered nurse or midwife.

QNU secretary Gay Hawksworth says its taken about eight months of negotiations with the Government.

“They were quite extensive negotiations and centred not just around the money but certainly around a number of projects and new models of care and the way nurses will be doing their work in the future,” she said. Read More…
